According to The Verge, Sonos is looking to launch two new smart speakers very soon. They are called the Era 300 and Era 100.

According to the report, the Era 300 will likely cost around US$450 (~S$600) while the smaller Era 100 will likely be priced at around US$250 (~S$333).

This means the existing flagship Sonos Five will likely remain as part of the lineup while the Sonos One will almost certainly be discontinued and replaced by the new Era 100.

Both speakers will be able to play music over Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, and AirPlay 2.0. Both speakers will also have USB-C ports that will support USB-C line-in for audio.

The Era 300 is said to be designed for spatial audio and features six drivers that direct sound in all directions. It can also be used as rear surround speakers with the Arc or Gen 2 Beam soundbar to deliver Dolby Atmos surround sound.

Details surrounding the Era 100 is sparser, however, it looks like the Era 100 isn't designed for spatial audio and has a more conventional driver arrangement. The report says to think of it as an improved Sonos One. The Era is said to have a second tweeter and a larger mid-woofer for stronger bass.

As for voice assistants, the two speakers should support Sonos Voice Control and Amazon Alexa. Google Assistant may not be supported given Sonos' ongoing legal battle with Google.

According to the report, Sonos will likely announce the two speakers soon and they are set for a simultaneous release in late March.
