Remember the Sonos Playbar? Launched in 2013 (seven years ago!), the wireless Hi-Fi soundbar has nine speaker drivers, connects to the TV via a single optical cable, and works with other members in the Sonos wireless audio family like the Sonos Play:3 and Sonos Sub.

According to Zatz Not Funny!, Sonos is ready to update the Playbar, Play:5 and Sub sometime this week. Aside from a more modern design and black and white colour options, the soundbar is expected to support Dolby Atmos and Apple AirPlay 2. Wireless connectivity should also be given, and based on recent FCC filings, we’re looking at 802.11ac.

Despite its imminent release, details of the new Playbar are still scarce. For example, it’s unknown how many HDMI ports it’d have and which HDMI version they support.
