Snapdragon 888-powered phones to get up to three Android OS updates
Android OS updates have been problematic for a few years with different vendors having varying schedules to deliver for their devices. This is set to change with the latest collaboration between Google and Qualcomm.
Google shared in a blog post that all new Qualcomm mobile platforms will support four Android OS versions (launch release + three OS updates) and four years of security updates. This will start with all Snapdragon mobile platforms launching with Android 11 or later versions.
While most flagship and midrange Android devices are equipped with Snapdragon mobile platforms, there are some midrange and entry-level Android devices running on other chipsets such as MediaTek. It remains to be seen if Google will work with the other chip makers to offer a similar guarantee.
