Singtel launches unlimited mobile data streaming for premium Spotify users

Note: This article was first published on 25th February 2016.

If you subscribe to Spotify’s premium stream for music and Singtel for mobile data, this is a plan you must get. Singtel launched a new Singtel Music offer – they charge S$7.90 every month, and you can get a premium Spotify subscription, with no data charges for streaming said music service. This means you can stream premium Spotify without sacrificing any of your paltry mobile data cap.

This offer is valuable to current Spotify premium subscribers who are currently paying S$9.90 a month while burning parts of their existing mobile data allotment just to get their jam on. Premium Spotify also comes with higher definition music streaming, so you can actually stream at a higher quality on Singtel Music and not bust your data limit within five songs. The unlimited mobile data used for listening to Spotify premium does not come out of your current data plan (we can’t stress this enough).

Besides Spotify, the offer is also applicable to KKBOX and AMPed premium subscriptions. Paying for either one of those premium subscriptions also gives you unlimited streaming on MeRadio app at no expense to your mobile data. MeRadio hosts a total of 13 other radio stations.

The S$7.90/month offer applies only if you sign a 12-month contract for this Singtel Music service. The no-contract version of the same Singtel Music offer is S$9.90/month, but it’s still worth getting because of the leniency you get with music streaming (no data charge incurred).

If you're an existing Spotify premium user, here's how you should go about when signing up for this zero-data-charge plan for music streaming. Go to their website for more information.

You can learn more about signing up or making the switch here. This plan is only applicable to existing Singtel Postpaid mobile customers, and the FAQ on the website tells you how to cancel your existing Spotify premium membership before latching on to Singtel Music’s offer.
