Ever since the coronavirus outbreak first broke out about three months ago, sporting events all over the world have seen a sharp decline as organisers postpone them to minimise transmission. As such, many of these organisers have resorted to the next best alternative to retain their viewership; that is, to take them online.

And it seems that the Singapore Premier League will be hopping aboard that hype train come 11 July, as they host the inaugural eSPL online tournament via eFootball Pro Evolution Soccer (eFootball PES) 2020. All eight existing teams from the league will be taking part in this new pilot project, putting forth two representatives each to duke it out against the other teams online.

Additionally, using the game's uniform editor, the teams' real-life jerseys have been replicated in-game for use during these matches. The tournament, which will be shown on Singtel TV (mio Sports 111), StarHub TV (Hub Sport 2), meWATCH as well as on the SPL Facebook page, will feature two groups of four teams each playing against each other in a single round-robin format, with the matchups listed as follows.

In addition to the main eSPL event, there will be two side events taking place as well, both of which will be broadcast via the same channels as the eSPL. The first of these is a 1v1 straight knockout mini-tournament featuring the Women's National Team, while the second is a celebrity showcase match between SGAG (represented by Xiao Ming and Calvin Singh) and the Lion City Sailors (represented by Abdil Qaiyyim and Gabrield Quak).

For further details, you may refer to the following infographic, as well as the appended information below listing the match schedules. With that said, good luck and may the best team win!
