The Singapore Institute of Technology, or SIT, is unveiling two new BSc degrees for AY2022, Applied Artificial Intelligence (AAI) and Digital Supply Chain (DSC). The two three-year programmes will begin with an initial intake of 40 students each.

For AAI, SIT says that the motive for its creation was due to the identification of AI as a key part of Singapore's Smart Nation initiatives in a 2019 National Artificial Intelligence Strategy survey. The new course will aim to equip students with skills in software engineering and machine learning, and will see students go through the application of AI in industries such as financial technology, healthcare and engineering, to prepare them for working on AI in different fields.

For DSC, as the name suggests, it will deal mostly in supply chain and logistics. However, SIT aims to go further with this programme, as students learn to deal with the adoption of new technologies, as well as acquire skills in infocomm technology, engineering and designing digital supply chains.

As part of the launch of these new courses, SIT is also partnering with other entities and agencies to lend the programmes some weight, including Amazon Web Services for AAI, and the Singapore Logistics Association, YCH Group and Y3 Technologies for DSC. Students in these courses will also go through an eight-month work attachment through SIT's Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP).

Also joining these two new programmes is a new degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NAME), which is a merger of the previous Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering and Offshore Engineering degrees. These three names won't disappear entirely, however, as students will later be able to pick them as specialisations. NAME will also have an eight-month work attachment through IWSP.

Applications for admissions to SIT in AY2022 will open from 10th January to 19th March of this year, while the virtual open house will begin on 15th January, the hub for which can be found on SIT's website here.
