Singapore Airlines partners Grab for bookings and rewards

Singapore Airlines (SIA) and car-hailing app Grab entered into an official partnership, bringing a slew of benefits to riders of both platforms. These advantages include integrated Grab booking in the airline’s mobile app, and the ability to convert GrabReward points into KrisFlyer miles.

Booking Grab vehicles via SIA’s mobile app

Singapore Airlines customers can book a Grab ride to the airport seven days before their scheduled flight. The option will appear within the Singapore Airlines mobile app, and it will redirect the passenger to the Grab app, who in turn can choose to book on the spot, or in advance. The airport (for example, Changi Airport Terminal 3) will be automatically listed as the destination. The user only needs to fill in their Grab pick-up location and preferred pick-up time.

Currently, the booking feature supports six SEA countries - Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

As a local promotion, the first 5,000 customers who make a Grab booking via the Singapore Airlines app will receive S$10 in GrabPay credits, which can be found in their Grab account. The credits are applicable for Grab rides in Singapore.

“We are thrilled to bring more convenience to our customers on the ground and in the air through our new partnership with Grab, while also offering KrisFlyer and GrabRewards members the opportunity to convert points to miles and redeem them for award flights or flight upgrades. We are constantly seeking to enhance our SingaporeAir mobile app and KrisFlyer programme to ensure that we provide more benefits to our customers,” - SIA Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing, Mr. Campbell Wilson.

Converting GrabReward points to KrisFlyer miles

As the header indicates, Grab riders can convert their GrabReward loyalty points into SIA’s KrisFlyer miles.

When asked about the points-to-miles conversion rate, an SIA spokesperson responded: “The conversion rate will be shared when the partnership is made live in the next few weeks.” Grab's spokesperson also concurred by saying that this feature will only be live "in due course".

Mr. Jason Thompson, Head of GrabPay said: “Grab is honored to serve as Singapore Airlines’ land transport partner in Southeast Asia. We have a shared commitment to innovation and delivering safe and high-quality travel experiences to passengers. At the same time, we are constantly making the Grab platform more rewarding for our customers. With GrabRewards, a dollar spent on Grab is more valuable than a dollar spent in cash. By integrating Grab’s and SIA’s loyalty programmes, customers can look forward to using their points when they plan for their next holiday. This partnership is a significant recognition by one of the most prestigious airlines in the world, and I’m incredibly excited about what we’re going to achieve together.”
