I'm not sure if I should feel happy or resigned right now.

Happy in the sense that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is getting a Game of the Year Edition, which will be free for all existing owners. And yet, I feel ever so resigned. Resigned to the fact that I'm never going to be able to clear that annoying horseback lancer boss.

Oh well, guess that's just how the cookie crumbles, at least for me. Still, credit should be given where it is due, and From Software deserves a round of applause for making a terrific game - after all, Sekiro is one of the few titles that we feel has actually earned its GOTY status completely on merit, instead of just being a tuned-up version of the original.

Of course, apart from being a free upgrade for existing owners, From has added some new features in the enhanced version. These include a bunch of interesting skins, such as an older, more grizzled version of Sekiro, as well as two new game modes, called Reflection of Strength and Gauntlet of Strength respectively. The former allows players to re-fight any bosses they've already cleared, and it's kind of a big thing for a Soulslike considering From's other games usually require you to replay the entire campaign in order to go up against the bosses again.

Meanwhile, the latter is more like a Survival or Boss Rush mode, if we want to call it that. Here, you basically fight against the game's bosses one after the other with only a single health bar, and dying takes you back to the start of the "gauntlet", hence the name.

Anyway, the update is set to go live on October 28 at 10am PT (that's 1am on Thursday for us in Singapore!), so do make a note on your calendar if you intend to give the new modes a shot. Alternatively, if you haven't checked out the game before, here's our review of it!
