Schneider Electric has announced that it aims to deploy 20,000 new (Electric Vehicle) EV chargers in Singapore through its EV partners by 2030. Even better, it will be working with EV charging point operators (CPOs) to offer free EV charging to users from 1st April to 30th September 2023, as part of its 50th anniversary in Singapore this year.

As of December 2022, Schneider Electric has deployed some 2000 chargers in Singapore through its EV partners, so to meet its 2030 goal, the company and partners will progressively install smart EV chargers in commercial, industrial and residential buildings islandwide. The new chargers will be placed in both new and existing buildings and facilities. Plans are also being made to increase the number of charging points at existing sites which already have Schneider Electric-supplied EV chargers.

The smart EV chargers to be installed come from Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure for eMobility suite of products designed to be installed quickly in commercial, industrial or residential buildings. Building owners that install the smart EV chargers within their premises can also benefit from Schneider Electric’s IOT-enabled “EcoStruxure EV Charging Expert” that dynamically distributes real-time available power in the building to charge EVs, while avoiding peak hours and integrating renewable energy.

From 1st April 2023, Schneider Electric will offer 120,000 kWh worth of free charging, or approximately 3000 full charges, to users who charge their EVs using Schneider Electric’s EV chargers that are operated and maintained by participating charging point operators (CPOs) and partners. EV users would be able to activate free charging when accessing the participating CPO’s mobile applications.

Participating CPOs such as SP Group, Charge+, MNL Asia, Busways, and EVOne will enable free charging to users from 1st April to 30th September 2023, or until the 120,000 kWh is utilised, whichever is earlier.

As of 1 April 2023, Schneider Electric's chargers will be available at 85 different locations in Singapore. The full list of charging points will be listed on its website by 25 March 2023.
