SanDisk Announces New Products in Conjunction with 25th Year Anniversary

SanDisk, together with their partner Toshiba, produces almost half of the world's total flash memory production.

SanDisk has just marked its 25-year anniversary by announcing a range of new high-end flash memory products and reaffirming their commitment to the flash memory business. With demand for flash memory rapidly outstripping supply thanks to the booming mobile devices market, SanDisk believes that their future is bright. As for the new products that were announced today, they are the Ultra USB 3.0 flash drive, Extreme II SSD and Extreme microSDHC and microSDXC memory cards.

If you find yourself transferring documents often, the SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0, with its high transfer speeds, could be a lifesaver.

The USB flash drive may be ubiquitous, but not all USB flash drives are created equal. The SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 is a high-performance USB flash drive that maximizes the potential of the USB 3.0 interface and features up to 80MB/s transfer speeds and is backed by a 5-year warranty. The drive also comes with SanDisk’s SecureAccess software that enables 128-bit AES encryption to keep your data safe. The drive will be available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacities. Prices begin at S$19.50 and top out at S$70.

SanDisk is ditching SandForce for its new Extreme II SSD as the new drives are now powered by Marvell controllers.

SanDisk has also released a successor to its extremely popular Extreme SSD. The new Extreme II SSD uses Marvell’s latest 88SS9187 controller and features SanDisk’s own nCache technology, which sets each portion of the memory to operate in “SLC-mode” as a performance write buffer. SanDisk’s claims random IOPs performance figures of up to 95k read and 78k write is possible. The Extreme II will be available in three capacity points - 120GB, 240GB and 480GB - with prices beginning at S$225.

The Extreme microSDHC and microSDXC memory cards are designed to be hardy and fast.

Finally, SanDisk has also released its new high-end Extreme microSDHC and microSDXC UHS-1 memory cards. These new cards are capable of up to 80MB/s read and 50MB/s write speeds, and are designed to be waterproof and shockproof. These new flash memory cards are meant to complement smartphones, tablets and digital cameras. The new SanDisk Extreme microSDHC and microSDXC cards will be available in 16GB to 64GB capacities with prices ranging from S$35 to S$135.
