Samsung's Sensor OLED display can measure blood pressure, heart rate and stress level
Samsung's latest OLED display can measure blood pressure, heart rate and stress level anywhere on the panel.
The Sensor OLED Display, which was announced by Samsung Display at SID Display Week 2023, is the world's first OLED panel to be able to read fingerprints anywhere on the screen and check cardiovascular health.
Samsung Display is able to achieve this feat by embedding light-sensing organic photodiode (OPD) into the panel itself. With the touch of two fingers anywhere on the screen, the Sensor OLED Display can measure the heart rate, blood pressure and stress level.
OLED light is reflected differently depending on the contraction and relaxation of the blood vessels inside the finger, and when it returns to the panel, the OPD can recognise and convert it into health information.
Samsung Display claims the Sensor OLED Display can provide "more accurate health information than existing wearable devices" as it can simultaneously sense the fingers of both fingers.
Samsung did not state when the Sensor OLED Display would arrive on consumer devices.
