Samsung's The Frame 2018 is a 4K TV that doubles as a piece of art

Samsung has released version 2 of its ‘The Frame TV’, which as the name implies, is a 4K TV designed to look like a picture frame.

Like Samsung’s 2018 QLED TVs, the 2018 Frame TV has a 4K UHD screen and works with HDR10+ content. Setting up the TV is also a more streamlined affair thanks to the integration with the new SmartThings mobile app.

The Frame TV also comes with Samsung’s No Gap Wall-Mount, letting you mount the TV flush against the wall. To minimize cable clutter, the TV also gets the updated One Invisible Connection 2.0, a slim, translucent cable that integrates the power cable and data line from the back of TV to the One Connect Box, the latter of which is where you plug your AV devices into. Finally, to pull off a more convincing photo frame look, Samsung is offering a variety of customizable magnetic bezel options – white, walnut, beige wood, and porcelain blue.

The standout software feature on the Frame TV that’s not on Samsung’s regular QLED TVs is the Samsung Art Store, which houses over 400 pieces of artwork from some of the most prominent museums and galleries around the world. You can access everything in the collection with a subscription, or you can buy just the pieces that you like. With the Slideshow mode, you can set the artworks to automatically switch at intervals between 10 minutes and 7 days.
