One of the biggest problems preventing the mass uptake of wearables today is battery life. No-one wants to recharge their watch every day. Samsung however, may have the solution: bendy batteries.

A proof of concept was shown off by Samsung at InterBattery 2014 in Seoul, with Samsung claiming that the new style of battery can work even when it's rolled up into a hoop shape (or wrapped around a user's wrist). While details are scant, the new flexibility apparently stems from changes in structural design and improved materials. The flexible design would allow for much higher capacity batteries to be fitted into wristwatches and other wearables whose form factor prevents a standard size battery.

It may be a little early to get too excited though: Samsung says that it is hoping units will be commercially available only within the next three years.
