Samsung's Exynos 2200 to bring ray tracing to phones next year
Samsung confirmed in a social media post that its upcoming Exynos 2200 chipset will support ray tracing.
In a now-deleted post on Weibo, Samsung apparently shared that ray tracing support will be coming in the Exynos 2200 chipset. The next generation chipset will have a GPU based on the AMD RDNA2 architecture. The Exynos 2200 chipst is expected to power the Galaxy S22 lineup and may give it an edge over competing chipsets from Qualcomm.
AMD announced during Computex 2021 that it will be bringing custom graphics IP to Samsung's next flagship mobile chipset as part of a multi-year strategic collaboration. The South Korean company reportedly paid $100 million for the AMD partnership.
