In a welcome surprise to Samsung Smart TV owners, Samsung TV Plus, Samsung’s free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) service is now available on Samsung Smart TVs across Singapore, the Philippines, and from late November in Thailand.

This means that Samsung Smart TV owners will have free access to 20 curated global live TV channels broadcasting entertainment, news, movies, and can expect to watch shows like MythBusters, Survivor, Don’t Tell the Bride, Deal or No Deal, River Monsters, Red Bull TV, Come Dine With Me, and Euronews. Channel partners include Banijay Entertainment, ITV Studios, and Tap.

Ed Love, Head of Samsung TV Plus Southeast Asia and Oceania (SEAO) said:

Across Southeast Asia, the appetite for ad-supported TV is soaring, with TV viewing time doubling in the last 12 months across APAC. Now is the right time to carve our own path within the region’s thriving ad-supported market by delivering hugely popular global and local content that provides something for everyone, for free.

We reached out to Samsung to find out how they’ve solved the licencing deals with the different content providers and channel operators to distribute the content regionally and if there are plans to roll this out to more markets and add more channels, but they have yet to respond. We will update this article when we receive a response.
