Samsung trademarks "Infinity Display" for the Galaxy S8

Samsung has come up with a moniker to describe the almost bezel-less display of the Galaxy S8. In a recent application filed to the U.S Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Samsung wants to trademark "Infinity Display" for mobile telephones, smartphones, tablet computers and other electronic devices.

A purported press image of the Galaxy S8 shows an edge-to-edge display with no physical home button and minimal bezels at the top and bottom of the device. Rival phone maker LG also came up with a funky branding for its G6 phone, the FullVision display which has an unusual aspect ratio of 18:9 and is capable of displaying various HDR formats.

Samsung will be unveiling the Galaxy S8 at its first Galaxy Unpacked event of 2017 on 29 March in New York. Do check out our round-up article on what to expect from the Galaxy S8.
