Samsung apparently thinking about releasing a cheaper Galaxy Z Fold6

An entry-level Fold6 could be a game-changer.

Online reports have Samsung considering releasing a cheaper version of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold6. Not a cheaper Fold6 but having a Fold6 and a cheaper option next to it. A Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold6 to use Samsung’s recent S24 launch as an example.

Quoting The Elec, the move is to help Samsung in its penetration of the Chinese market that is currently dominated by local players like Oppo and Xiaomi.

To give the Fold6 a better chance at competing against its Chinese counterparts, Samsung is reportedly considering making a thinner, entry-level Galaxy Z Fold6 that could launch in the second half of 2024.

The consideration of the Fold series rather than the Flip, is that the Flip series has been selling better than the Fold series. So, this could in a sense help to reinvigorate sales of the Fold.

However, it remains to be seen if such a move ends up adversely affecting Samsung sales in China with a cheaper Galaxy Z Fold6 cannibalising sales of a higher-end model.
