Samsung just unveiled its latest mobile processor, the Exynos 9820 which boasts a fourth-gen custom CPU, 2Gbps LTE Advanced Pro modem and an enhanced neural processing unit (NPU).

According to the South Korean company, the new NPU can perform AI tasks around 7 times faster than its predecessor. It will also enable a variety of new experiences such as instantly adjusting camera settings for a shot based on the environment or recognising objects to provide information in augmented or virtual reality settings.

The fourth-gen custom CPU is said to be able to deliver about 20% improvement in single-core performance or 40% in power efficiency when compared to its predecessor. Multi-core performance is stated to be 15% better.

The LTE-Advanced Pro modem supports 8xcarrier aggregation and 316Mbps uplink. With up to 2Gbps downlink speeds, you can expect to download a Full HD movie (3.37GB) in about 15 seconds.

The Exynos 9 series 9820 will go into mass production by the end of the year. Do expect this processor to be powering the Galaxy S10 models when they arrive in the first quarter of 2019.
