Samsung’s 2019 smart TVs will allow you to access your PC from the big screen

With CES nearing, Samsung is teasing a new feature coming to its 2019 smart TVs. Called Remote Access, this is a wireless connection mode for PCs, tablets, and smartphones that allows users to remotely control compatible apps via the TV.

According to the Korean CE giant, Remote Access supports input devices such as keyboards and mice, so you can easily control your PC through the TV. Web browser-based cloud office service can be accessed through Remote Access. The tech behind this feature is VMware Horizon, a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) product developed by VMware.

If you’re worried about wireless or cloud service security, Samsung says it has integrated its proprietary Knox security technology into Remote Access. Embedded in Samsung’s smart TV lineup since 2015, Knox is supported with regular firmware updates for continuous protection. Knox is also the only security solution in the TV industry to receive the Common Criteria certification, an internationally recognized certification system for computer security that is conducted for government evaluations.
