Samsung reportedly secured limited orders for NVIDIA's next-gen GPU

NVIDIA is a long-time client of TSMC as the latter has sufficient production capacity to meet its orders. For its next generation GPUs, NVIDIA is reportedly dividing the orders between TSMC and Samsung.

Sources familiar with the matter told DigiTimes that Samsung has secured limited orders to produce the lower-end Ampere GPUs while TSMC won orders for the Hopper achitecture-based GPUs. It is said that this strategy could lessen the load on TSMC and maximise the yields from both foundries.

This isn't the first time that NVIDIA enlisted Samsung to make its GPUs. Samsung won a contract from NVIDIA in 2016 to manufacture the Pascal GPUs.
