Samsung reportedly redesigned the screen and hinge of the Galaxy Fold
Samsung reportedly spent the past two months redesigning the Galaxy Fold to fix the screen issues reported by reviewers.
People familiar with the matter told Bloomberg that Samsung stretched the protective film to wrap around the entire screen and flow into the outer bezels. This apparently made it impossible to peel off by hands.
The hinge is also re-engineered, which pushed it slightly upward from the screen to help stretch the film further when the phone unfolds. This new design is said to reduce the possibility of a crease developing in the middle of the screen over time.
Samsung is now in the final stages of producing a commercial unit and will soon starting shipping components to a main plant in Vietnam for assembly, but it has yet to confirm a new launch date for the Galaxy Fold. The company is unlikely to make an announcement during the Galaxy Unpacked event on 7 Aug where the Galaxy Note 10 should be the main focus.
