Samsung reportedly believes that its upcoming foldable phones will be a hit with consumers.

According to South Korean site TheElec, Samsung has set an ambitious sales target of 7 million units for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3. The company aims to sell 3 million units of the Galaxy Z Fold3 and 4 million units of the Galaxy Z Flip3 by the end of the year. In comparison, Smsung is estimated to have shipped 2.5 million foldable phones in 2020.

Purported promotional materials of the upcoming foldable phones were leaked recently. The Galaxy Z Fold3 is stated to be the first foldable phone with an under-display camera and it will support the S Pen. In addition, the Galaxy Z Fold3 is shown with a triple-camera setup on the rear and a new design which can close fully without a gap on both sides. The Galaxy Z Flip3 has a dual-camera module and a dual-tone design with Gorilla Glass Victus on all sides.

The Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 are expected to be announced in July. Rumours suggest that the foldable phones will come with IP-rated water and dust resistance. With the 2021 Galaxy Note out of the picture, Samsung is counting on the new foldable phones to drive its mobile business for the rest of the year.
