Up till today, Tizen OS can be found in several Samsung devices such as the Z3 and the Gear S2. The Linux-based platform may take center stage next year if this report is accurate.

According to Samsung Vietnam, 2016 is tipped as the year of the Tizen revolution where Samsung is alleged to be releasing several higher-end smartphones powered by Tizen OS. In addition, the Tizen ecosystem reportedly grew rapidly due to support from an increasing pool of developers.

The Tizen Store opened its doors earlier this year in May with 25 apps. At time of publication, the total number of apps has grown to 64. As noted in our review of the Gear S2, it is still a challenge to entice developers to invest in Tizen OS. Perhaps releasing several high-end smartphones will help attract the interest of consumers and developers.
