Samsung claims its foldable phones will be more popular than its Galaxy S series within three years.

Roh Tae-moon, the chief of Samsung's mobile business, revealed in a press conference that the Galaxy Z foldable phones will exceed other Galaxy premium phones including the flagship Galaxy S series in the near future. Roh estimates foldable phones to contribute more than 50% of Samsung's shipments by 2025 and "foldables will become the new standard of smartphones".

2021 was a blockbuster year for foldable phones. Omdia's smartphone model market tracker indicated a whopping 309% growth for the foldable phone market in 2021! Research firm Canalys predicts foldable phone shipments to exceed 30 million units in 2024. Samsung says it shipped 4x more foldable phones in 2021 than in 2020. If Samsung can maintain the momentum, its prediction will become a reality sooner than expected.
