Samsung believes that its mobile payment and digital wallet service, Samsung Pay, could give it an edge over its rivals in hotly contested markets and is sparing no effort in rolling its service out as quickly as possible.

According to reports, Samsung Pay will be offered in UK, Spain and even China by next year. It is currently available in South Korea and the US. It was only launched a few months ago.

In comparison, Samsung's key rival, Apple and its Apple Pay service, is available in the US, UK, Canada and Australia right now. However, users have noted that Apple has been slow to rollout its Apple Pay services to other markets. It went into service last October.

Apple considers China to be an important market. In fact, the iPhone 6s was recently the top selling smartphone in China for the month of September.

Apart from being first, Samsung will have another advantage in that it can offer Samsung Pay on its lower-priced phones. Along with its large share of the smartphone market, it could be enough to make Samsung Pay more attractive to retail merchants.
