Apple scored a huge victory over Samsung in the latest round of the patent trial.

Bloomberg reports that jurors awarded Apple the verdict in federal court in San Jose, California. The verdict came days after it was established that Samsung infringed on three Apple's design patents covering the rounded corners of the phones, the rim that surrounds the front face, and the grid layout of apps. Samsung is also found guilty of infringing on two utility patents. Below are Apple and Samsung's responses:

“Today’s decision flies in the face of a unanimous Supreme Court ruling in favor of Samsung on the scope of design patent damages,” Samsung said in a statement after the verdict. “We will consider all options to obtain an outcome that does not hinder creativity and fair competition for all companies and consumers.”

“We believe deeply in the value of design, and our teams work tirelessly to create innovative products that delight our customers,” Apple said.

The patent battle between the two tech giants has been ongoing since 2011 and the different verdicts have made it one of the most complicated trials in the history of the industry. Below is a timeline of some of the significant patent lawsuits and verdicts:
