Samsung One UI 5.1 goes to the new Galaxy S23 series and older flagships

One UI 5.1 for Samsung mobile devices is here!

One UI 5.1 for Samsung mobile devices is here, coinciding with the official street date of the Samsung Galaxy S23 series handsets.

According to Samsung, the Android 13 reskin is rolling out to older flagship-grade handsets like the Galaxy S22 series, Z Fold4, Z Flip4, S21 series and S20 series.

Expert RAW features, now inside Camera app.

New tweaks and features in One UI 5.1 include specific Expert RAW tools built directly into the default Camera app. Besides unlocking raw format photography (under “More” when photo-taking), you can also experiment with AI-based Photo Remaster to improve photo details or remove unwanted shadows like how Object Eraser used to.

Photos themselves are also slightly easier to find – you can now tap a person’s face to do a photo search for more images in the Gallery app.

Smart Suggestions now support Spotify.

The UI (user interface) gets minor aesthetic updates and quality-of-life improvements. Modes and Routines now support custom wallpapers, ringtones, touch sensitivity, and fonts for specific activities. The Weather widget takes cues from current weather to create a custom climate design. Smart Suggestions widget is now compatible with Spotify, recommending songs based on user activity.

Multi Control extended to select Galaxy smartphones.

While Singapore isn’t getting Samsung’s Windows-based Galaxy Book3 series laptops, it’s worth noting that One UI 5.1 supports Multi Control between Galaxy Book and phone. That means you can pair a single mouse, keyboard, or trackpad to both, and control both devices. This is an expanded feature too – it started as a tool for laptop-tablet cross-platform use. Samsung said it’s for select phone models but did not specify which models exactly, besides saying One UI 5.1 is required.

You may have One UI 5.1 already. If not, the new Samsung-cloaked Android 13 operating system begins its rollout today. The Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 will be “getting other software” updates in the coming weeks, so sit tight.
