Samsung just unveiled the first mobile image sensor with the smallest pixel size in the industry at 0.7μm.

Despite having the smallest pixels, the 43.7MP Samsung ISOCELL Slim GH1 can absorb sufficient light information to produce bright and vivid photographs. This is made possible by ISOCELL Plus, Samsung's latest pixel isolation technology that minimises color cross-talk and optical loss.

Its light sensitivity is also not affected by the tiny pixel size; the ISOCELL Slim GH1 makes use of pixel-merging Tetracell technology to obtain higher light sensitivity comparable to that of a 1.4μm-pixel image sensor.

The Tetracell technology also allows ISOCELL Slim GH1 to support 4K video recording at 60fps with minimum loss in field of view. There are a gyro-based electronic image stabilization (EIS) and a high-performing phase detection auto-focus technology, Super PD, to take sharper photos and videos.

Samsung believes the ISOCELL Slim GH1 is the optimum solution for slim full-display devices and can enable sleeker, more streamlined designs in future smartphones. It is expected to be in mass production by the end of the year.
