Samsung launching phones with bendable screens in 2017?

Moving beyond curved displays, Samsung is said to be venturing into bendable displays as soon as early 2017.

According to Bloomberg, people familiar with the matter claims that two smartphone models with bendable screens are in the pipeline for release next year. One model is said to fold in half like a cosmetic compact while the other model will have a 5-inch display that can roll out to 8-inches to be used as a tablet.

The two smartphone models are being developed under the code name "Project Valley, which is reported by SamMobile in June 2015. The two phones could be launched at Mobile World Congress 2017. They will not be marketed under the Galaxy S branding.

In December 2015, Samsung filed a patent for a scrollable, tab-style and bendable smartphones. Just two months ago, ETNews reported that Samsung was working on a smartphone and tablet hybrid for launch in 2017.
