Samsung launches two new premium notebooks that feature QLED displays
The Samsung Galaxy Book Flex and Galaxy Book Ion are the first notebooks to feature the QLED display with full HD resolution. According to Samsung, this allows for “a vivid, true-to-life viewing experience.” The QLED display is designed with Outdoor Mode for clear viewing even under the bright sunlight. This is due to the display’s 600-nit brightness capability.
Both notebooks are designed as part of the Project Athena initiative, so users can look forward to advanced computing experiences, in addition to efficient battery life, responsiveness, and instant action.
The Galaxy Book Flex’s marquee feature is its 360-degree hinge that allows the device to be converted into a tablet. It sports an aluminium body for durability, and it’s even offer in Royal Blue colour. Like the Samsung Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ mobile phones, the convertible notebook supports the new S Pen for user inputs to enhance user experience.
The Galaxy Book Ion is constructed from “ultralight” magnesium. According to Samsung, its clamshell frame is designed with portability in mind, and the Galaxy Book Ion 13 weighs less than one kilogram, and is 12.9mm thick. The larger Galaxy Book Ion 15 weighs up to 1.57kg, with a thickness of 14.9mm.
The new laptops will be powered by the latest 10th-gen Intel Core Ice Lake mobile CPUs, while S Pen support is exclusively available for the Galaxy Book Flex series. Only the 15.6-inch models from both series will offer discrete GPU chipset, in the form of the NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics chipset with 2GB GDDR5 RAM. In the recent months, we have seen the Huawei MateBook X Pro, Aftershock Lunar 14, Acer Swift 5, and ASUS ZenBook 13, 14 and 15 laptops that sport the same graphics chipset.
The new Samsung Galaxy notebooks are designed with a generation selection of ports that include Thunderbolt 3, USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, USB 3.2 Gen 2 and Gen 1, as well as UFS/microSD combo slot. The exact details of their specifications are found below.
Both Galaxy Book Flex and Galaxy Book Ion will be available in two sizes, .i.e., 13.3- and 15.6-inch, from December 2019, in select market. Head over here for Samsung’s official press release.
