Samsung to introduce new display sizes and 3D cameras for the Galaxy S10?

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+.

Next year will be the 10th anniversary of the Galaxy S flagship series and Samsung has reportedly finalized some specs of the Galaxy S10 handsets.

According to Korean publication The Bell, the Galaxy S10 and S10+ will sport display sizes of 5.8-inches and 6.3-inches respectively. The increase in screen size is minimal compared to this year's Galaxy S9 (5.77-inch) and Galaxy S9+ (6.22-inches). Panel production is scheduled to start in November.

Sources also told The Bell that Samsung plans to introduce 3D-sensing camera modules and in-display fingerprint sensors on the Galaxy S10. It reiterated that Samsung is working with Israeli 3D camera solution startup Mantis Vision and domestic camera module maker Woodgate.

As for the in-display fingerprint sensor, Qualcomm, Synaptics and Aegis Tech are currently developing the technology for Samsung. In June 2017, Qualcomm announced its next-gen ultrasonic fingerprint sensors for display, glass and metal. Qualcomm claims its fingerprint sensors can also detect heart rate and blood flow. Synaptics is currently supporting Vivo's full production of its Apex concept smartphone which has the world's first in-display fingerprint scanner.
