Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 may see reduced crease and “almost square” Cover Screen
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 may see reduced crease and “almost square” Cover Screen
Could the Samsung Galaxy Z foldable smartphones finally have a reduced crease on their display? According to one tipster, probably.
Smartphone tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce on Twitter) Tweeted a summary of all Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold5 leaks he’s collected thus far. Most are related to the new dimensions and physicality of the upcoming foldable phones.
For instance, the tipster claimed that Fold5 and Flip5 would adopt “water droplet” hinges with IPX8 resistance. A similar hinge name was used to describe the first Oppo Find N and the newer Find N2 Flip foldable phones to illustrate how the brand made its crease significantly less noticeable. A big difference is that the Oppo Find N2 Flip is not IP-rated for water or dust resistance, making the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip5 possibly more attractive for users who need that assurance.
Another possible change is the Galaxy Z Flip5’s Cover Screen next to its rear cameras, where the tipster said it’s “almost” square (1:1.038 ratio) at 3.4 inches wide. The same tipster previously shared rumours about how Galaxy Z Flip5 will feature a larger outer screen than Oppo Find N2 Flip, but there are numbers to the claim now.
The claims about Flip5’s reduced crease and larger Cover Screen also tallies with another tipster’s, whose main bread-and-butter revolves around the displays of devices.
Other claims for the upcoming Samsung foldables include a new touchscreen technology and reduced bezels on the Flip5’s main display. It’s also rumoured that the Galaxy Z Fold5 would be lighter to the touch (254g, instead of 263g like the Tech Awards 2023 winner).
