Samsung shows snippets of Galaxy Z Flip4 5G and Fold4 5G internal lab tests

At the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 5G and Galaxy Z Fold4 5G, Samsung insisted that the foldables are rated for 200,000 folds and have an IPX8 water resistance rating, just like the models before it. The phones are supposed to be durable enough to survive daily use.

Perhaps your mileage may vary with foldable devices, or you’ve wondered how the brand even got to those numbers and ratings. Samsung has since uploaded a short video to show users how it tests both foldables in its labs before reaching retail shelves.

The video showcases its folding stress test, water resistance test, and other durability examinations around the 1m20s mark. The rest of the clip also touches on how it tests its imaging performance, touchscreen sensitivity, and physical keys.

In any case, it looks excessive – unless you’re also the sort to shoot liquids from every direction at your flagship-tier mobile.

If you're not really a fan of the clinical approach Samsung uses, there's also this grittier durability test by JerryRigEverything where he also puts one of the foldables through the paces. We've time-stamped the clip at the start of all the high-intensity bits below.
