The Samsung Galaxy S8 may be the first phone to come with Bluetooth 5

The first phone to be equipped with Bluetooth 5 could be the Samsung Galaxy S8.

SamMobile has heard from its sources that there is a possibility of the Galaxy S8 being the first phone to have Bluetooth 5. As Samsung is one of the members of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, it makes sense that the South Korean company wants its upcoming flagship smartphone to feature the latest Bluetooth standard.

First announced in June, Bluetooth 5 offers up to twice the speed and four times the range of Bluetooth 4 with no increase in power consumption. It is also stated to work better while other wireless signals like Wi-Fi are active, which is good news for Internet of Things (IoT) and other connected devices. More devices with Bluetooth 5 are expected to be available within the next few months.
