Aside from the rumoured titanium chassis and fanciful Galaxy AI features, Samsung might announce a major update to its software support policy at the Galaxy S24 launch event.

Android Headlines reports that leaked promotional materials of the Samsung Galaxy S24 indicate that the upcoming phones will receive 7 years of software updates which would include security fixes and Android OS upgrades.

Samsung currently commits to four generations of OneUI and Android OS updates on select Galaxy devices, and promised to deliver faster Android OS updates in 2023.

If the above leak is true, Samsung's 7-year software support will match Google's software update strategy for the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.

It will also address one of the most enduring criticisms of the Android platform: OS fragmentation. Samsung sells more Android phones than its rivals and it cannot deny responsibility for aggravating the platform fragmentation by not keeping its extensive lineup of Galaxy devices updated with the latest Android version.

On another note, the promotional materials for the Galaxy S24 appear to suggest that Samsung might be looking at ways to monetise Galaxy AI next year. Some Galaxy AI features are stated to be free until 2025, which indicates that the South Korean company could start charging Galaxy users a monthly subscription for the more advanced features.

With the Samsung Galaxy S24 launch event happening in less than two days, it won't be too long before we find out whether the two leaks above are true.
