Samsung could be unveiling the Galaxy S22 series before the end of the year.

Reports from South Korean media claim that Samsung may launch the Galaxy S22 in December. The earlier-than-expected announcement is said to counter the new iPhone 13 models and to fill in the gap left by the absence of a non-flagship launch in the second half of the year.

The poor sales of the Galaxy S21 Series could be another reason for an earlier announcement. While there is strong take-up of the new foldable phones among consumers, sales numbers are believed to be insignificant compared to the Galaxy Note series.

The South Korean has been bringing forward the launch timelines of its Galaxy S series in recent years. It used to announce the Galaxy S series at Mobile World Congress in March before stopping the practice and holding its own Galaxy Unpacked event in February. This year marked a significant change as Samsung announced the Galaxy S21 Series on 14 January, almost a month earlier compared to the Galaxy S20 in 2020.
