Samsung today unveiled the Galaxy S20, its flagship smartphone for the new decade. The Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra come with different screen sizes, storage capacities, and camera setups, so there should be a Galaxy phone to suit everyone. And as its name suggests, the Galaxy S20 Ultra is the most powerful of the lot, featuring top-end specifications like a 108MP camera and 16GB of RAM to cater to the most demanding users.

Here's an overview of the specifications of all three phones:

There are 5G variants of each model, and Samsung is reserving the higher memory and storage configurations for the 5G models, no doubt in an attempt to encourage more people to buy them. We've yet to see widespread rollout of 5G networks yet, so folks will likely still need some encouragement to get onto the bandwagon.

Other major upgrades include the high refresh rate 120Hz display and 240Hz touch sensor, so the phone should feel a lot more fluid and responsive. That's particularly important for mobile gamers, which Samsung is hoping to woo with the Galaxy S20. The built-in game booster feature also works in the background to optimise settings for better performance in game.

In addition, Samsung teamed up with Microsoft to launch Forza Street later this year in the Galaxy Store, marking the first time the popular racing game is coming to mobile.

The hole-punch front camera on the Infinity-O display has also been shrunk down and moved to the centre, a nice step up from the Galaxy S10. The display now appears far more immersive than before, and the front of the phone is very nearly all screen now.

The camera is a major focus for Samsung here as well. The company is touting a completely redesigned system, powered by AI and its biggest image sensor yet. The higher resolution available across the S20 range allows for more detailed images that open up more options in terms of editing, cropping, and zooming. Larger sensors also take in more light, which means better pictures in poorly lit scenes.

The Galaxy S20 Ultra even offers up to 100x Super Resolution Zoom, the furthest yet on a smartphone.

The Galaxy S20 and S20+ share largely similar camera systems, but the S20+ comes with an additional DepthVision camera for a quad-camera setup.

Video hasn't been neglected either, and the phones support 8K video recording, which can then be streamed to a Samsung QLED 8K TV. Built-in anti-rolling stabilisation and AI motion analysis also help steady your shots, and Samsung even partnered with YouTube to let you upload your videos directly to the service.

Elsewhere, the phone has been optimised for Google Duo, with deep integration that lets you access Duo from the dialer in FHD quality. Google's video chat app on the Galaxy S20 will let you talk to up to eight friends at once and fit multiple people into the same frame using the wide lens.

Come 6 March, the Galaxy S20 series will be available in the following US pricing and colour options:-

  • Galaxy S20 5G - US$999 | Cosmic Grey, Cloud Blue, and Cloud Pink
  • Galaxy S20+ 5G - US$1,199 | Cosmic Grey, Cloud Blue, and Cosmic Black
  • Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G - US$1,399 | Cosmic Grey and Cosmic Black
