Samsung Galaxy S II Sells Out After First Weekend
Singapore, 27 June 2011 – Samsung Electronics has surpassed all expectations in sales of its GALAXY S II smartphone, with all units selling out after its Singapore retail launch on Friday 24 June. The flagship Android™-powered GALAXY S II is the successor to the best-selling GALAXY S, which has sold a record 14 million units globally since its debut last year.
Mr Winston Goh, Product Marketing Manager - Telecomunications at Samsung Asia Pte Ltd said, “We are delighted with the unexpected demand for the GALAXY S II and see this as strong validation from our customers on the quality and attractiveness of our mobile phones.”
Built on Samsung’s next generation TouchWiz technology and including the latest Android v2.3, the GALAXY S II offers an appealing user experience. It features a fast 1.2GHz dual-core processor, HSPA+ connectivity providing data transfer of up to 21Mbps, a Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen display and at just 8.49mm in thickness, the new smartphone is a powerful evolution of its predecessor in speed, screen and slim design.
“This is an unprecedented record and definitely cements Samsung’s position as the top provider of Android smartphones according to value, based on recent analyst data. The GALAXY S II reinforces Samsung’s commitment to integrating the best of design and leading technology for customers and affirms our conviction in the strong growth opportunities for our mobile phones,” added Mr. Goh.
