The Samsung CJ791 is a big QLED monitor that supports Thunderbolt 3

A week before CES 2018 kicks off in Las Vegas, Samsung has today announced the CJ791, a curved monitor with Thunderbolt 3 connectivity.

Thanks to Thunderbolt 3’s up to 40Gbit/s bandwidth, a single Thunderbolt cable on the CJ791 is enough to let users easily link and dock their monitor and laptop, with enough bandwidth to connect to other peripheral devices, such as external drives and external graphics cards. It supports USB Power Delivery too, and can provide up to 85W of laptop charging power.

Thunderbolt 3 support aside, the CJ791 is a 34-inch curved QLED monitor with an ultra-wide 21:9 aspect ratio and a 3,440 x 1,440-pixel resolution. The panel can be tilted and the monitor’s further equipped with a height-adjustable stand to enable users to customize positioning easily.

Performance-wise, the quantum-dot-based monitor touts a 125% sRGB coverage and wide 178-degree viewing angles. While it isn’t really targeted at gamers like the new CHG90 and CHG70, it does come with a Game mode that has a dynamic gamma setting that “intuitively adjusts color and contrast of each individual scene” and a 4ms response time.
