Samsung is back with a new smartwatch, and it's called the Galaxy Watch

Note: First published on 9th August, 2018, the article has been updated with local pricing and availability details.

In addition to the Galaxy Note9, Samsung has also unveiled its newest smartwatch: the Galaxy Watch.

Available in two sizes - 42mm (in black or rose gold) and 46mm (silver only) - the Tizen-based Galaxy Watch has an always-on OLED display that’s protected by Corning’s new Gorilla Glass DX+ cover glass. Like previous Gear watches, it has the trademark circular, rotating bezel that’s used for UI navigation. You also get plenty of hardware straps and software watchfaces to choose from to tailor the look for the occasion.

The Galaxy Watch also has a new “optimized” Exynos processor, which enables its battery to last for up to 80 hours. There will also be an LTE model, which means you can take calls, send messages, play music, and more without your phone around.

Samsung is also touting the Galaxy Watch’s new “stress management tracker”, which will automatically detect high levels of stress and offer users breathing exercises. The watch’s sleep tracker can track REM cycles, too.

The Galaxy Watch is also a fitness tracker. In addition to tracking a total of 39 workouts, Samsung Health can now log nutritional information, which means you can monitor your calorie intake on the watch.

Samsung Health isn’t the only Samsung service the Galaxy Watch supports. The wearable also works with Samsung Flow (for unlocking PCs and tablets), SmartThings (for smart home control), Samsung Pay (for secure payments), and Bixby. If you have a premium Spotify subscription, you can listen to songs offline or without a smartphone with the Spotify Offline mode.

The Galaxy Watch will be available starting in the U.S. on August 24, in Korea on August 31, and in additional select markets on September 14, 2018.
