Samsung is setting a higher sales target for 2023 despite the gloomy economic conditions and rising inflation.

According to Korean news site Naver, Samsung plans to sell 270 million phones next year which is 10 million more than its target for this year. The South Korean company is reportedly embarking on a new strategy from selling as many entry-level devices as possible to selling more premium products.

Its current lineup of premium devices include the Galaxy S and Galaxy Z devices. Having established itself as the market leader in the foldable space, Samsung will focus its efforts on the Galaxy Z foldable phones. It aims to ship 60 million units of the Galaxy S and Galaxy Z devices in 2023.

Samsung has been shifting a lot of resources on its foldable phones. TheElec reported in November 2021 that Samsung is increasing production of foldable phones for 2022. For 2021, it shipped 4x more foldable phones than in 2020. Its mobile chief predicts Galaxy Z sales to exceed that of the Galaxy S series by 2025.
