Samsung adds new GameDev kit tools as it continues to grow Galaxy as a gaming platform

Samsung is doubling down on its Galaxy devices as a gaming platform with the release of new tools for its GameDev kit.

Thomas Ko, Vice President of Service Innovations, said that there are now 2.1 billion gamers in the world, and that 56 percent of those gamers play at least 10 times a week on smartphones. Ko also said that thanks to those gamers, Galaxy is now the largest platform for games.

To help grow Galaxy as a place for gaming, Samsung has announced new tools for its GameDev program, including GPU Watch, which aids developers in their monitoring and measurement of performance between Vulkan and OpenGL ES, and a new enhanced version of Vulcan API, which offers 10 percent improved performance compared to the OpenGL ES.

Samsung also announced that it will be launching a brand new Galaxy Store in 2019, which will become the single destination for all digital items related to Galaxy devices, making it easier and more convenient to discover and download new games (as well as other apps, themes, fonts etc.)
