About two weeks ago, Apple announced its new MacBook Pro notebooks and the announcement was met with a lot of criticism.

High on people's list of complaints were Apple's decision to go all out with only USB Type-C connectors and the lack of a built-in card reader.  This led many people to say that the MacBook Pro wasn't designed with professionals in mind.

However, despite all this, research firm Slice Intelligence has just revealed that sales of the new MacBook Pro notebooks in just its first five days have already surpassed that of many other notebooks released this year.

As the chart shows, in just its first five days, sales of the new MacBook Pro notebooks have already outstripped that of other notebooks like Dell's Inspiron 2-in-1 and Microsoft's Surface Book. And some of these notebooks were released last year.

Granted, these aren't notebooks that compete in the same category in the MacBook Pro, but it's still surprisingly just how well the new MacBook Pro notebooks are selling.

Perhaps what's most amazing is that in just five days, the new MacBook Pro has already sold almost as much as Apple's ultra-light MacBook did since April last year.

In fact, if we were to compare the first five days sales of the MacBook Pro to the MacBook, the MacBook Pro would have outsold the MacBook by seven to one.

For those of who are complaining about the new MacBook Pro, it seems like Apple knew what it was doing all along.
