Rumour: Samsung could be eyeing an early launch for Galaxy Z Fold5 and Flip5

The new foldable phones could see a global launch as soon as July 2023, which is significantly earlier than its usual August-September timeframe.

Most folks would know how Samsung has two Unpacked events for its mobile phones every year: the H1 version usually sees the introduction of its current-generation Galaxy S flagship model, while the second half of the year has an Unpacked that once revealed the Galaxy Note stylus-friendly handsets before it became the launch window for its Galaxy Z foldables, Fold and Flip.

SamMobile reports that Samsung is expected to launch the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5, along with a new Galaxy Tab S9 series (tablet range) and new earbuds by the final week of July 2023. Previous rumours already stated that these devices would see an "early debut", but there's a date range for these devices now.

SamMobile speculated that Samsung's early move could be due to its key competitors being extremely aggressive with foldable phone launches. For instance, the 2023 flagship Vivo foldables launched earlier this week, and that wasn't very long after the local launch of the almost-creaseless Oppo Find N2 Flip (review here). It doesn't help that the rumoured Google Pixel Fold looks less like a concept and more like a product ready for retail.

For reference, the previous two generations of foldables by Samsung (Fold3, Flip3, Fold4, Flip4) launched in mid-August, with the products hitting the shelves around September.
