The rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro might not use Intel's 10th-gen Ice Lake chip

The rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro might not use Intel's 10th-gen Ice Lake chip

The rumoured 16-inch MacBook Pro might not be powered by the latest Intel processor when it is announced later this year.

IHS Markit analyst Jeff Lin claims that the 16-inch MacBook Pro will be equipped with Intel's 9th-gen Coffee Lake Refresh processors, which can also be found in the recently updated 15-inch MacBook Pro.

This means that the 16-inch MacBook Pro can be configured with up to an 8-core Core i9 processor that has a 2.4GHz base clock speed and a max Turbo Boost frequency of 5.0GHz. The recently announced 10th-gen Ice Lake processor might not be suitable for the upcoming MacBook Pro as there are currently no 6-core or 8-core options.

Apple is said to be unveiling the 16-inch MacBook Pro in October and it will sport an LCD display (3,072 x 1,920 pixels). It is also believed to use a new keyboard design based on scissor switches.
