The retail availability of the 6.1-inch iPhone 9 may be delayed
The 6.1-inch iPhone 9 may ship later than the OLED models according to reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
His sources in the supply chain claims that the iPhone 9 will ship "slightly later" than the two OLED models. Apparently, there are issues with the production schedule. While Kuo did not specify a particular release date, it is believed to be in October.
Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty reported last month that the iPhone 9 will only go on sale in October due to production issues with the innovative backlighting system. Pre-orders for the new iPhones are rumored to start on 14 September with shipment starting a week after.
Kuo also shared and reiterated his predictions on the 2018 iPhone lineup; he stated that the 6.1-inch and 6.5-inch iPhone models will come in single- and dual-SIM configurations depending on market and region. In addition, the 5.8-inch model will have a single SIM tray and embedded SIM support. However, the embedded SIM "may not be activated". Kuo also shot down rumors of the 2018 iPhone models supporting Apple Pencil as he believes it will not offer a good user experience.
