Research Shows 3D Movies Cause More Discomfort

Contrary to what TV makers might want you to believe, there are more cons than pros to watching 3D movies than 2D ones. According to studies conducted by the California State University, 3D films do not incite greater emotions, nor do they prove to be more immersive than their 2D counterparts. If anything, 3D movie goers are more likely to suffer from physical discomfort such as blurred vision and eyestrain. 

HDTVtest - Researchers at California State University have recently carried out a study, the results of which have led them to conclude that watching 3D movies is not as great as it is cracked up to be. It has previously been suggested that watching 3-dimensional movies can really enhance one’s enjoyment, delivering a real sense of being in the thick of the action, as well as a stronger emotional link with the content.

The research involved four hundred students tasked to watch a selected film in either 2D or 3D. They were then asked to rate various aspects of their viewing experiences following that. More on this article here
