One of the most ridiculous open world games in existence is coming back!

Deep Silver just announced that the 2011 open-world game Saints Row: the Third will be getting a remaster. Titled Saints Row: the Third Remastered, the game will be released on PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One on May 22, 2020. That’s surprising - considering that The Last of Us Part 2 was set for release just a week later, but was delayed indefinitely due to Covid-19.

This open world game might remind players of the GTA franchise, and that’s very much on purpose. It parodies a bunch of open world games with ridiculous weaponry and cartoonish characters, never taking itself too seriously. Developer Volition is currently working on a new Saints Row videogame, so work on the remaster has been handed to studio Sperasoft instead.

The game will apparently feature, “retextured environments, character models and visual effects, enhanced graphics and a new lighting engine,” according to Deep Silver. It certainly looks a whole lot prettier, which is obvious in the comparison trailer above. The game will cost US$39.99 (S$57), and includes all of the original's expansions and DLC content as well.
