The release date of iPhone XR is a month later due to two reasons
It's about the LCD display and the notch.

Unlike its OLED siblings, the iPhone XR is only available for pre-order on 19 October with retail availability slated for 26 October. What are the reasons causing the delay for the iPhone XR?
Ryan Reith, IDC’s vice president of research on mobile devices, revealed to The Verge in a phone interview that the delay is likely to be caused by both hardware and software issues.
“Everything we’ve been hearing, it’s been an issue on the software side,” he said, “There’s a lot of software involved with the LCD screen, as it’s the first [LCD display] with a notch and full screen.”
Canalys senior analyst Ben Stanton also shared the same sentiments;
“Apple would not delay the launch of iPhone XR for any reason other than the device is not ready to be shipped at adequate volume.” He elaborated, “The constraint with the device is around the new LCD display, which has bottlenecked production.”
Reith also said that Apple could not get sufficient supplies of the LCD displays as it encountered last-minute issues with the manufacturer. Although production was underway for a while, the “quality wasn’t hitting what they needed.” Therefore, Apple had to spend more time to tweak the LCD display through software engineering to improve the visuals and get the manufacturer to cut the LCD into a notched shape.
It was reported in July that there were production issues with the innovative backlighting system which could cause a one-month delay for the launch of the iPhone XR.
