RedMagic unveils the first phone with a 144Hz display

The RedMagic 5G smartphone.

RedMagic, the gaming arm of Nubia, just released the first smartphone with a 144Hz display.

The RedMagic 5G comes with a huge 6.65-inch AMOLED display which supports 144Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. To make gameplay even smoother, the Touch Choreographer algorithm on the RedMagic 5G automatically compensates in-game frame rates to ensure stability.

It is also 5G capable with dual-mode 5G (SA+NSA) and Wi-Fi 6 support. The RedMagic 5G can hit peak download speeds of up to 7.5Gbps and peak upload speeds of up to 3.0Gbps.

Other specs include Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, up to 256GB UFS 3.0 memory, an active liquid-cooling system with a turbo fan for heat dissipation, a customisable RGB light on the back of the phone, dual stereo speakers, a rear triple-lens system (64MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor), and a 4,500mAh battery.

The Verge reports that the RedMagic 5G is available for preorder today. The 8GB + 128GB model is priced at US$579 while the 12GB + 256GB model is priced at US$649. The phone will be released in North America, the U.K, Europe, Australia and Japan.
